As the year drew to a close, the Night Café tournament held on December 30, 2023, at the TSG Heilbronn venue brought together 15 players for an exhilarating day of three-cushion billiards. 

The competition unfolded over eleven intense hours, culminating in a thrilling final that crowned TSG-Bundesliga's top player, Cetin Duran, as the undisputed champion. Let's dive into the highlights of this memorable event that marked the end of 2023.


Duran's Triumph:
Facing off against Heiko Roth, the BC Nied representative and double German champion in November 2023, Duran showcased his prowess in a high-stakes final. Despite Roth's spectacular start with a 15:7 lead after six turns, Duran demonstrated exceptional resilience, ultimately securing victory with a commanding 30:20 scoreline in just 19 turns. This win marked Duran's third consecutive tournament victory, capping off an impressive streak that included triumphs in Heilbronn on October 28 and Stuttgart on November 18, 2023.


Semi-Final Dramas:
Before the final showdown, Roth's remarkable feat of breaking the "Heilbronner Phalanx" in the semi-finals captured the attention of spectators. He eliminated TSG captain Frank Haberzettl in a fiercely contested match, where an initial lead proved insufficient against a Frankfurt player's outstanding performance, resulting in a 25:16 victory in 25 turns.
In the other semi-final, Ismail Inal, the best runner-up from the group stage, faced his teammate Duran in a closely fought battle. Duran emerged victorious with a score of 21:25 in 23 turns.


Bronze Medal Thriller:
The "small final" for the bronze medal showcased an intense battle between Haberzettl and Inal. After 29 turns, Haberzettl secured victory by the narrowest of margins, 25:24, fending off Inal's final attack after initially establishing a clear lead.

A thrilling day of cue action unfolded at BSC Karlsruhe on March 23rd, as ten talented players took to the felt in a gripping Night Cafe 3-cushion tournament.
