Merckx's path to glory began in the Last 32, where he faced tough opponents CHA and BAO, securing crucial victories. Despite a setback against Marechal, he resiliently earned his spot in the finals. The turning point came in a fiercely contested match against J.T. KIM in the Last 16, where Merckx's strategic prowess and mental fortitude prevailed in the 28th inning with a score of 49-46.
